jlsphotography > The Chemung Mine is supposedly haunted by a Poltergeist that will chase you away if it finds you there on a Saturday night. I shot at the mine on Sunday and Monday nights and although it was definitely spooky, I saw and heard nothing out of the ordinary. But being that the legend is about Saturday nights, I guess the mystery remains...

jlsphotography > Garlock in 2005. It was founded in the 1890's and was a supply center for gold mining operations in Goler Gulch. When Gold was discovered in the Rand district to the east in 1895, the ore was shipped to Garlock for milling. Soon Randsburg grew to the extent that they built their own mills, and Garlock's role, and reason for existing, was diminished. Soon, many of Garlock's structures were moved to Randsburg, and Garlock became another desert ghost town. Not much remains of Garlock today. This cabin, the shed that stands behind it, and an adobe building across the road which used to be saloon/stage stop are all that mark the once bustling townsite.
